Dr. Goh Hui Weng is a Senior Lecturer at the River Engineering and Urban Drainage Research Centre (REDAC), Engineering Campus, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), and a registered Professional Engineer with the Board of Engineers Malaysia as well as a Chartered Engineer with the Institution of Engineering and Technology, UK. Since joining REDAC in 2016, he has been actively engaged in interdisciplinary research, consultancy, and academic leadership focused on sustainable urban water management, nature-based solutions, and environmental safety systems. His core research interests include stormwater best management practices, constructed wetland systems, bioretention technologies, water resources management, and environmental, health, and safety governance in infrastructure and industrial settings. Dr. Goh has led and contributed to numerous nationally and internationally funded research projects, including Long-Term Research Grant Scheme (LRGS), Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS), Malaysia Research University Network (MRUN), and international collaborative grants. His work addresses critical challenges related to urban runoff treatment, nutrient and pollutant removal, phytoremediation, rainwater harvesting safety, and sustainable wastewater management in tropical environments. Through field-based experiments, pilot-scale systems, and integrated modeling approaches, he has developed innovative solutions that enhance water quality, ecosystem resilience, and climate adaptation strategies.
